The idea was that with the two volume knobs and the switch, you could use the pickups in every combination possible (15 different sounds, I believe.) The "normal" preamp probably is just a standard passive wiring or possibly, a T and B control. I state normal as these came with twin volume knobs, one tone knob and a 5 way switch that ran the pickups back and forth (single coil, parallel and series) in a number of different combinations. This one has had the pickups, and possibly the preamp, changed (and, probably upgraded.) Has EMG-HZ pickups and "normal" preamp. These are wide spaced 5 string Epi's that look and play really nice.

States that "neck has a slight warp and is not easily adjustable so action is a bit high." The neck on these are quite easy to adjust, as long as you have a 1/4" female hex.
